Аннотация
Обсуждаются проблемы распространенности артериальной гипертонии в мировом масштабе и влияние ее на смертность и инвалидизацию населения. Отмечается недостаточная эффективность борьбы с этим заболеванием. Указывается на недостаточную осведомленность населения об этом заболевании и недостаточную дисциплинированность больных в соблюдении лечебных мероприятий. Подчеркивается необходимость обеспечения партнерства врача и больного для достижения целевых уровней артериального давления.
